A 3D artist by the name of Aleksandr Timoshenko recreated one of the most famous World of Warcraft towns, Thunder Bluff, in an amazing 3D render which gives the city more of a stark, bleak style. The
WOW WoTLK Classic Gold city has a long and rich history that goes back to the beginning in World of Warcraft's Third War, Thunder Bluff is one of the franchise's most well-known capital cities.
Its geographical features are just as fascinating as its past as well. It is located on the planet of Kalimdor, Thunder Bluff as it is situated on bluffs which rise hundreds of feet higher than the terrain on the land it was established. The Tauren were the first to settle and founded the city following being evicted from their homeland by hostile Centaurs. Thunder Bluff seems a fitting location for the Tauren however, due to the weather that is usually sunny, and often depicted in games with warm hues and a distinct vibrance. What would happen if Thunder Bluff received a makeover and not by the help of one of Blizzard's Classic versions, but rather by a player who has an entirely different perspective for the game?
As reported by PC Gamer, 3D artist Aleksandr Timoshenko shared a slew of fan-created 3D renderings of Thunder Bluff on the ArtStation page, which depict Thunder Bluff quite differently. It's a stunning recreation that includes every single detail displayed, but Timoshenko's reimagining of the city's natural beauty leaves the bright and golden hues that give the city of Thunder Bluff its typical warm and inviting look.
Instead of the warmth, there is something more bleaker, and this is particularly evident when Thunder Bluff's iconic look and Timoshenko's 3D renders are juxtaposed in photos. As per PC Gamer Timoshenko, the 3D artist created their amazing World of Warcraft renders in Epic's Unreal Engine with help from Quixel's Megascans plugin.
The way that different artists interpret iconic designs is always fascinating. The most interesting aspect here is how Timoshenko's reimagining of the real world changes the tone in Thunder Bluff. In the
cheap WoTLK Gold 3D-artist's rendering is a dark, bleak atmosphere that's not present in the World of Warcraft's Thunder Bluff. Both versions are breathtaking in their own in their own right.
Timoshenko isn't the only one of the impressive World of Warcraft recreations making the rounds also. In the last month an Reddit user posted photos from their Stormwind Harbor construct in Iron Gate's Valheim. It, too, is an impressive sight.
